Sounds like they were having a dialog, using this meeting to talk around and hash out some issues. I see this as good, as opposed to the freaks of antifa coming in hot with anyone who is not 100% in agreement with them.
According to at least one former federal inmate, the prison guards deliberately encourage racial divisions among their prisoners, as this both distracts the inmates and makes them unable to unite against the guards.
Of course, "divide and rule" ever always only is limited to federal correctional institutions and our wise and benevolent rulers would never stoop to using this well-known tactic on us.
When the groups find common ground in denouncing the victimization of their cothinkers by police, the violence of the state apparatus, they are experiencing their common struggle as members of the working class against the capitalist state and its system of exploitation of ALL workers regardless of race.
If a bunch of white people were walking down the street dressed and armed like that chanting "White power!" and anti immigrant slogans everyone including TK News would call them racist white supremacists. When black people do it why is it ok? So why is TK News not treating everyone the same? I think we know why. Taibbi doesn't want to spend the rest of his life hiding from this group and having the left wing loonies label him a racist just for reporting accurately.
The key words here are they "don't find common ground". That's the problem with many movements we see. They are fragmented and cannot lead to a real change, unfortunately.
I think you should clarify that Marvin Guy is not being held without being charged (I was so shocked at that I clicked through to read the related article.). According to that he has been charged (capital murder) and is being held in lieu of bond. While 8 years is, agreed, an excessively long time to be held before trial, it is different than being held without being charged.
Matt I cannot understand why people want to suggest you are “red pilled”, a horribly stupid moniker of anyone, vs trying hard to fight the exact same overreach that leftists have always fought for. I'd like to point out that if a White person said about immigrants what the Black person said about immigrants, it would be all over the local and possibly national news. They would be denounced, de-monitized and de-platformed.
Focusing only on strategy and tactics without diving into grievance specifics, I wonder what either group imagines happening to further their causes(s). I’m disinclined to listen to people making demands absent some structure or strategy for achieving objectives. Yelling demands isn’t an effective strategy.
