Rightwingers are not opposing gay marriage. In fact, virtually all Republicans support civil unions, which is legally the same thing is a marriage. The government should get out of the marriage business entirely. They should only grant civil unions. Marriage should be relegated to churches and online ministers ordained for forty dollars a pop.
What the right wing objects to is gay marriage being taught to young children. That is not the same thing. For instance, you can be quite enthusiastically in favor of heterosexual sex and still not want its particulars discussed is schools with small children.
Parents are pissed. School boards are going to be “ground zero” in an American “Arab Spring” that will upend the ruling cabal of political and media elites this November.
The elites closed schools for 18 months, destroyed education with online school and non-working masks, told children they are racists just because of their skin color, told them they have to non just accrpt gay marriage but must celebrate gay couples or they are bigots, and insisted that should watch drag shows or tranny story time, and that they can change pronouns and have hormone blockers without parental consent. Has everyone lost their minds?
This is why Democrats lose elections. They may not rape then eat babies. But they surely do antagonize hardworking families who just want to be respected and raise their children — while they go about doing all of the real work that coincidentally keeps the elites alive. Maybe the elites don’t want to keep kicking this hornets nest. Just a thought.
In the meantime you have radicals burning down women's health centers in preparation for the SCOTUS Roe vs Wade decision and no one is stopping them! My niece works for a health center that doesn't advise on abortions, leaving it up to the women. They will close ALL their sites on the day the decision is handed down in FEAR of being targeted by pro-abortion fanatics!
I don’t claim to speak for “Republicans” but will say that while I have no problem with gay people, I am entirely sick of people’s sexual preferences being shoved in my face. It is ridiculous to me that I can’t turn on a tv program or sporting event at this point without seeing rainbows everywhere. This seems like backlash to a movement that has gone too far.
After the the FBI's involvement in the Michigan Gov. Whitmer attempted kidnapping incident, any imputed "right wing terrorist" group should be viewed with great skepticism.
One of the “Patriot Front” guys was photographed at his arrest with a megaphone labeled “FBI”. Considering that the arresting officers were Idaho state troopers, how did an FBI megaphone end up on scene?
Yes, when a dangerous group gathers to commit violence, they usually do so while wearing the same style pants as the fbi, and do so basically right next to an FBI field office.
Also, once arrested, the police will not remove their hats, nor masks, nor sunglasses, nor backbacks, nor items on their belts or in their pockets, and will then calmly stand around while journalists film.
Always great getting video of these events. A few things strike me:
1/ The success of the gay rights movement almost invalidates the need for Pride events today. Pride events were once politically charged/visibility events geared toward changing laws to ensure equality, including marriage equality. That's happened. Mission accomplished. Well done. As it should be.
2/ The trans movement is an entirely different animal from the gay rights movement and, in my opinion, should absolutely be decoupled from it. Revert back to the LGBQ, minus the T and let the Ts hash out their arguments independently. (Matt has touched on this notion recently.)
3/ I'm not sure about the blanket statement 'Republicans support for gay rights is sinking.' Might be true. But what they are definitely pushing back against today, as the video shows in part, is the Trans movement's demand that we immediately accept their stances as settled science and a settled societal norm. They are far from either at present. Much debate needs to occur in this realm.
4/ There is also pushback against trans issues - or any issues on the subject of sexuality - from entering into grade school curriculum and other delivery methods aimed at single-digit age children. This is another area of valid concern needing exploration.
5/ Patriot Front definitely an intelligence op.
6/ Pre-crime is here, folks! No actual crime needed. Think good thoughts only.
It's a mistake to categorize domestic terrorism as left leaning or right leaning. The distinction that matters is violent versus non violent. What distinguishes terrorism from ordinary activism is a willingness to use violence to achieve political goals.
